The Best Little Winery And Craft Brewery In Texas
If you like unique wines and craft beers, you are going to love Winery on the Bay and Doggone Brewery in historic downtown Rockport.
Daniel and Debbie Parker, beverage afficionados from the successful Winery on the Gruene, have always loved Rockport and decided to call it home a few years back. It all began 30 years ago when Debbie and Daniel began brewing beer and wine for themselves and their friends from the back room of their home. Everyone agreed their product was so good that they opened Winery on the Gruene in 2008. Still a success, that winery continues, but the Parkers relocated to Rockport because they love life near the water.
Vino
Now let’s talk wine! The Parkers create over 30 plus different wines right here in Rockport, including traditional red and whites, but also iced, dessert, and fruit-infused wines as well. They get their grapes and juices from 12 different countries around the world, and then blend, ferment, age, and bottle the product on site. This results in low-sulfite and preservative-free wine, so even those with sulfite sensitivities can now indulge in superior quality, wonderful wines without hardship.
You can come in for tastings and get a souvenir glass to keep, or just enjoy a glass or bottle on the patio with specially paired cheese, crackers, and salami. Selectively curated foods bring out the best in each wine and highlight particular flavors in the same way that peanut butter and jelly compliment each other! But what makes Winery on the Bay so special is that you can also come in and design your own wine!
That’s right, you can create a distinctive wine to your personal taste, then let them keep it for you for 8 weeks until it is perfectly aged. Finally, you come back, bottle, and create your own custom label for your unique vintage! They also offer pre-designed custom labels, design your own with a personal picture, or let them create a unique one for your corporate, celebratory, or gift-giving event.
Rockport may be small, but it also contains this specialty business that caters to unique tastes and palates. Tastings are every day, and you can just drop-in, no reservation required! Of course, you can always just shop and order contact-free product too, but we recommend stopping in to meet Debbie and Daniel and their wonderful staff if you have a chance. And don’t forget the Hurricane Harvey Rosé, it’s terrific!
Suds
Now if beer is more your beverage, you are also in luck! The Doggone Brewery produces craft beer and ales on-site in the same facility as the winery. Yes, they have a beer brewing center on site to create distinctive and delicious beer for a variety of tastes.
They have draft beer, canned beer, and growlers to go! Try their Small’s American Pilsener, if you want a light, refreshing beer with hops from both Washington and England, 2-rowers brewer’s malt, and roasted barley for a well-rounded flavor.
Hefeweizen more your thing? Then try Drew’s thirst-quenching light wheat wort. They have Chester’s Caramel Coffee stout, Corky’s Stout, Daisy Mae’s American IPA, Jose’s Red Ale, and Lucy Lue’s Blood Orange Stout. They carry at least 6-8 different beers at all times and feature new and limited-edition craft beers as well. And their motto? No Working During Drinking Hours!
From ale, lagers, porters, stout, wheat beer, browns, and blondes, The Doggone Brewery has you covered, and they also have a relaxing atmosphere, comfy tables, and outdoor space to accommodate your mood. Have a tasting flight of 4 beers and get a souvenir glass too. So, no excuses beer afficionados, for not getting out there and savoring some new brews that might become your go-to favorites.
Be it wine, beer, or cider, the Winery on the Bay and Doggone Brewery have you covered. They will even ship anywhere and can produce larger quantities as needed, so they are your one-stop shop and taste, wine and beer destination. Historic downtown Rockport is home to an exclusive, and award-winning boutique wine and beer experience you cannot find elsewhere. Just another reason we love Rockport, and you should too!
Cheers!
