Recreation In Rockport! What’s Happening In Town And Around This Holiday Season
Spending your holidays on the coast with friends and family is one of the best ways to celebrate the joys of the season. Holidays bring memories of the past, traditional meals, visiting relatives, and magical moments for kids and grandkids. What can top that? Well, maybe combining all that with beach activities and seaside fun! Imagine that you have decorated your Rockport home for the holidays, gifts have been bought, and holiday cheer pervades the house. What next? Get out there and have some fun with the whole family!
Rockport, once again named one of the Best Small Coastal Towns in the country, has tons of fun activities like a maritime museum, the Rockport Kaboom and Pirate Playgrounds, The Rockport Center for the Arts, The Aquarium, the Connie Hagar Wildlife Sanctuary, and The Wetland Ponds and Demonstration Gardens by the TX DOT.
You can visit Goose Island’s 1000-year-old Live Oak, watch migrating birds, and don’t forget to check out the Big Blue Crab beside the historic Sea View Motel!
But being on the coast brings its own fun and the beautiful waters of the Gulf accommodate kite flying, stand-up paddle boarding, waterskiing, sailing, kayaking, jet skiing, and of course fishing and sport fishing, while Rockport’s public beach also features two pavilions and a saltwater swimming pool.
Watch the dolphins or spend some time volunteering or participating in an ecotourism adventure. You can even go geocaching and find your own treasure!
If you’re still not convinced how perfect holidaying at the shore can be, here’s even more fun festivities!
